CURRENT RESEARCH
INTERESTS
My research focuses on improving quality of care
for patients with chronic lung disease with a
focus on patients with chronic obstructive
pulmonary disease. Current research includes
epidemiologic studies to identify risk-factors
for COPD exacerbations, in order to develop
interventions to reduce health care utilization
and hospitalizations. Because of the significant
impact of COPD on health status and quality of
life, an additional area of interest has been on
the development and use of health status measures
in chronic disease. Other research interests
include measuring quality of care and the effect
of comorbidity on chronic lung disease.
