Mini Grant Information

ulmonary Division Endowment Mini-grants

Over the past few years, the Division has been given endowment funds to support various avenues of research. As these endowments generate income, we offer Fellows the opportunity to propose a project for endowment support.

By establishing a mini-grant program, the Division will acknowledge donor’s contributions, provide donor’s with tangible results from their investments, and demonstrate a commitment to honoring the donor’s intended purpose.

Two or three pilot projects (budgets of approximately $3000) will be funded for projects that can be conducted within the fellowship period. Priority will be given to applications to obtain preliminary data that will be used for subsequent extramural funding applications. The review committee is comprised of Len, Mark and Robb who will review applications and make selections.

Recipients will be expected to acknowledge the funding source in subsequent presentations and to communicate progress directly with the donor when appropriate.

Endowments have been established both for general respiratory disease research and for the following specific areas of focus:

• ARDS/ALI
• Asthma
• Cancer
• ILD/Pulmonary Fibrosis

Please send your proposals to Monica for consideration – the application should be no more than 3 pages in length, provide an overview of the proposed work including significance to the overall research training plan, and a budget.

Applications are accepted annually during the month of February.

Questions about the process should be directed to Monica (mfawthro@u.washington.edu or 685-8435)
