The Mission of the Resource Center

The mission of the Resource Center is to improve the quality of health policy analysis and decision-making at the national, regional, and state levels by increasing the objectivity and rigor of accessible policy-relevant research and information, and by facilitating and supporting informed dialogue about important health policy issues. This mission will be accomplished by facilitating, initiating, and disseminating health policy research around a theme of translating science and technology into health policy research and practice.

Our Five Core Functions

  1. Scanning and monitoring forces and trends affecting health policy
  2. Delineating policy research issues and facilitating policy research
  3. Engaging the public and private sectors in policy dialogue
  4. Initiating policy research
  5. Disseminating/translating policy research

Our Four Focus Areas

  1. Assessing the impact of advances in technology on health care financing and delivery (particularly genomics), including the distribution of health care resources;
  2. Evaluating the effects and the interaction among the multiple determinants of health;
  3. Integrating the best practices of medicine into a health care delivery system in transition; and
  4. Achieving primary prevention of illnesses and injuries through the identification of opportunities for the promotion of health and wellness and control of hazards to public safety and health.
