Washington Health Legislative Conference:
2007 Conference
Welcome to the 22nd annual Washington Health Legislative Conference: "The Changing Face(s) of Health Care: New People, New Ideas." The conference will be held at the SeaTac Hilton Conference Center.
As we enter an election cycle, health care is again on national and state agendas. While the issues are old, many of the approaches and stakeholders are new. In the face of changing demographics, legislation, technology, and an increasing interest in global health, the 2007 Washington Health Legislative Conference will examine the changing faces and new ideas about health care.
We start with an overview, led by keynote speaker Larree Renda. Ms. Renda is an Executive Vice President of Safeway, Inc. The morning plenary will continue with a presentation by Pamela Hanes, President and CEO of the Colorado Health Institute. Dr. Hanes will discuss the successes and lessons learned from the Metro Denver Chamber and how such findings might be relevant in Washington.
Following lunch, Ron Sims will present King County's work in health care reform. Jonathan Seib, executive policy advisor in the Office of the Governor, will present Governor Christine Gregoire's health care agenda and progress toward her health policy goals. Dr. King Holmes will discuss Washington's growing role as an epicenter of global health.
The afternoon break-out sessions are designed to explore current and future trends of changing health. Examples include:
- Morning Break-out 1: Domestic Workforce Issues and Global Possibilities
