Washington Health Legislative Conference:

2008 Conference

Welcome to the 23rd annual Washington Health Legislative Conference: "Envisioning the Future: Tools to Make It Happen." The conference will be held at the SeaTac Hilton Conference Center.

We start with an overview, led by Lawrence Brown, PhD. Dr. Brown is the head of Columbia University's Public Policy Consortium, a professor in the Mailman School of Public Health, and author of the recent article, "The Amazing Noncollapsing U.S. Health Care System -- Is Reform Finally at Hand?"

The second morning plenary speaker is Jon Brock, associate director of the William D. Ruckelshaus Center. The center "is a neutral resource for collaborative problem solving."

In the afternoon, Hilary Loeb, research analyst for the Human Services Policy Center in the UW Evans School of Public Affairs, will demonstrate a new tool on community-level indicators for kids. Greg Vigdor, president of the Washington Health Foundation, will provide an update on Washington's health and will show an example of new media in health promotion. Wing-It Productions will present an improvised comedy sketch about the election and health care. Several break-out sessions on relevant current topics will round out the program.

We look forward to another successful year with the Washington Health Legislative Conference. Many thanks to our sponsors and the hundreds of attendees who make the conference possible.

The presentations are available here.

The University of Washington federal tax identification number is 91-6001537.
