Multicultural Outreach & Recruitment

About Us

Who We Are

The office of Multicultural Outreach and Recruitment (MOR) is a division of the Office of Minority Affairs & Diversity (OMA&D) and is committed to identifying, attracting, and recruiting a diverse student body to the University of Washington.

Our Mission

Our mission, consistent with that of the University’s diversity statement, is to serve as a college outreach and recruitment resource for historically underrepresented students of color (African American, Latino, American Indian/Alaska Native, Native Hawaiian/Pacific Islander and Southeast Asian) as well as students who have been historically disenfranchised from higher education.

What We Do

MOR initiatives are designed to target 9th – 12th grade high school and 2-year college students from low-income and/or first-generation backgrounds. We are dedication to creating a welcoming and respectful learning environment that promotes equitable access and opportunity for all students to succeed at the University of Washington.

We provide programs and opportunities to attract, prepare, and increase the number of racially and ethnically underrepresented students who successfully matriculate at the University. It is our belief that enrolling students with a multiplicity of interests and experiences, intellectual and cultural perspectives will enrich the learning environment for everyone.

Honoring Place

The University of Washington acknowledges the Coast Salish peoples of this land, the land which touches the shared waters of all tribes and bands within the Suquamish, Tulalip and Muckleshoot nations.
