Ethnic underrepresented minority high school juniors/rising seniors (graduating June, 2016)
Shades of Purple is a student conference for underrepresented minority high school juniors/rising seniors who are interested in attending the University of Washington – Seattle. The program focuses its resources on serving the following underrepresented minority groups: African American, Pacific Islander ( Melanesian, Polynesian, Micronesian) Southeast Asian, (Vietnamese, Lao, Khmer, Hmong, Mien, etc) Hispanic/Latino, and American Indian/Alaskan Native. “Shades of Purple” was created to encourage Underrepresented Minority students to pursue higher education as well as to give them the opportunity to experience the UW. Participants will meet future classmates, learn about campus programs, and discover the diversity and unity that exists within the UW community. You are guaranteed a lot of fun and a rewarding, worthwhile experience! (Note: Application and participation is open to all students regardless of race/ethnic background).
