Recruitment & Outreach

Adelante Con Educación Conference

Event Date

May 18th – 19th, 2012

Target Group

Latino and Chicano high school sophomores and juniors

Description

The Adelante Con Educación Conference (ACE) is an event that is geared toward the recruitment and outreach of prospective Latino students applying to the University of Washington. The goal of this conference is not only to promote higher education, but also provide empowerment and leadership skills catered toward Latino(a)/Chicano(a) issues. Our goal is to target students from under-privileged backgrounds and/or first generation college applicants. During the course of the day students will learn about financial aid, the application process, and programs that the University of Washington has to offer. Students will be able to network with current UW students, faculty, and staff while experiencing student life at the University of Washington. Since it’s inception on this campus, the UW Chapter of Movimiento Estudiantil Chicana/o de Aztlan has been a catalyst toward providing educational outreach. In addition UW MEChA has also been a supporter of equal opportunity and unlimited access to higher educational programs.
