About Notify.UW

Notify.UW provides free course notifications for closed and open course sections to all UW students via email or SMS text alerts. The service also provides notifications when a course first closes, allowing you to re-evaluate your desired schedule each quarter. Notify.UW is integrated with other UW registration tools including the Time Schedule and MyUW.

Using Third-Party Course Notification Systems

Students should be aware that the use of non-UW automated notification tools and “bots” is expressly prohibited as stated in the Registration and System Abuse policies.

Accessing Notify.UW

Notify.UW can be accessed via the Registration Resources in MyUW or by going to http://notify.uw.edu. The tool can also be accessed through the UW Time Schedule or MyUW.

  2. If you do not have access, or require a different role complete the access request form here.
  3. Your request will be evaluated by the Academic domain data custodian, the University Registrar. Your access request will be approved or denied pending an evaluation by the Registrar.

Before you Begin

Please ensure that you have installed “UWICK”, also known as the Tera Term Pro application, on your computer. Tera Term can be downloaded at no cost from the UWIT Uware site. Note: Installation requires administrative privileges, contact your departmental IT support for assistance.

Locate the “Keynes” program on your computer to open the terminal window to log on.

Steps:

1. When you open SDB, the first screen you will see is the Sign-On Screen.

  • Enter your assigned Usercode (NetID) – this is the code you were given by the Registrar’s Office when you received your SDB access.
  • Enter your chosen Password – note that you’ll be prompted to change your password every 60 days. Note: It is recommended you change your password every quarter, you access might be disabled if you do not log in to they system regularly.
2. On the PRN Screen enter the numbers displayed on your SecureID/Entrust token.
3. On the Main Menu enter your choice as SDB.
4. The next screen gives you access to SDB records. In the Home position (upper left-hand corner of the screen), e.g.  SRF305
