Inpatient

Our Rehabilitation Inpatient Units are a part of UW Medicine. We have inpatient units at Children's Regional Hospital and Medical Center, University of Washington Medical Center, Harborview Medical Center, and the Veterans Administration Puget Sound Health Care System. All of our inpatient facilities have been accredited by CARF, the Commission for the Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities. We offer our patients the latest technologies and current research.

The Team

We believe that every individual, regardless of ability, has the potential to achieve a dignified, satisfying, and productive life. We have a multidisciplinary team that provides this care. The Team consists of a physician (physiatrist), psychologist, nurses, physical, occupational, and recreational therapists, speech pathologists, rehabilitation counselors, social worker, and other allied health professionals. The patient is the most important member of this team. We hold an individual team meeting for each patient and their families in attendance, where we discuss the progress and set realistic and meaningful goals.

Admissions to Inpatient Rehabilitation

We will work with you and your physicians to facilitate your admission to inpatient rehabilitation at Harborview Medical Center, Children's Hospital, and University of Washington Medical Center.

Patient and Family Advisory Council at UWMC

We are very fortunate to have a very active Patient and Family Advisory Council. Former patients and their families meet quarterly with the inpatient management team. With their advice and experiences, we have made many improvements in our procedures and policies.

In addition to giving thoughtful advice, they have taken an active role in patient education. You can read their manual "Rehab and Beyond," which describes the entire inpatient experience, by downloading the following Acrobat (PDF) file:
