Dr. Kanny's clinical interests include administration, assistive
technology, and ethics.
Research
Her research interests include education, health policy, and ethics
research.
Teaching
Dr. Kanny teaches Rehab 584, Health Care Trends and Issues, which
provides an overview of the health services system in the US and
current trends and issues facing occupational therapists within
this system. Content includes: health service providers, reimbursement
of health care services, regulation, personnel, and health policy
and advocacy. She also teaches Rehab 585, Administration and Management,
which provides the student with the knowledge and skills needed
for leadership positions in occupational therapy practice. Focus
is on administration and management, including strategic planning,
program planning, marketing, fiscal management, program evaluation,
quality improvement, and personnel management. Dr. Kanny also teaches
Rehab 591, Master's Project, involving the supervision of students
in capstone projects that focus on research, administration, education,
practice, policy, or other scholarly work.
Training
Dr. Kanny earned her Bachelor's degree in Occupational Therapy from
the University of Minnesota, her Master's degree in Rehabilitation
from Seattle University, and her Ph.D. in Education from the University
of Washington.
