Anne Shumway-Cook, PT, PhD

Physical Therapist

Patient Care
Dr. Shumway-Cook's clinical practice focuses on two areas: (1) management of the patient with balance and mobility impairments and (2) management of the patient with vestibular pathology.

Research
Her research interests include mechanisms underlying balance and mobility problems in geriatric and neurologic populations, and clinical methods for assessing and treating imbalance.

Teaching
Her teaching responsibilities within the Division of Physical Therapy include Rehab 523: Applied Neurology: Physical Therapy Management of the Patient with Neurologic Pathology, and Rehab 503: Geriatric Physical Therapy.

Training
Dr. Shumway-Cook earned her Bachelor's degree in Physical Therapy at Indiana University, her Master's degree in Special Education at the University of Oregon, and her Ph.D. in Motor Control at the University of Oregon.
