Dr. Stiens' clinical interests include the primary care and
rehabilitation of people with spinal cord injury.
Research
Dr. Stiens' research interests include neurogenic bowel, upper
extremity overuse, and education in rehabilitation.
Teaching
He teaches PM&R residents and medical students the following
courses: Introduction to Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation
Medicine (Rehab 101), Introduction to Clinical Medicine II,
Disablement Experience: Clinical Care of People with Physical
Disabilities, Introduction to Clinical Medicine I (HuBio 535):
History Taking From People Who Have Disabilities; Assessment
of Their Health, Function, and Effectiveness in Life Roles.
Training
Dr. Stiens earned his Bachelor's Degree in Natural Science
at Xavier University, his medical degree at the University
of Cincinnati, and his M.S. Degree in Rehabilitation Medicine
at the University of Washington.
