Aaron Turner, PhD

Rehabilitation Psychologist

Patient Care
Dr. Turner is the attending psychologist of the inpatient rehabilitation unit of the VA Puget Sound Health Care System. His clinical interests include rehabilitation for multiple sclerosis, traumatic brain injury, amputation, adjustment to disability, depression, anxiety, and health behavior change.

Research
His research interests include intervention to promote health behavior change in chronic disease, alcohol use, depression, quality of life and cognitive functioning in multiple sclerosis, traumatic brain injury, and amputation. He is a core investigator in the VA Multiple Sclerosis Center of Excellence and the VA Center of Excellence in Substance Abuse Treatment and Education.

Teaching
Dr. Turner provides training to psychology interns is his role as clinical supervisor in the VA Puget Sound’s pre-doctoral internship program. He teaches on topics related to rehabilitation psychology for medical students and residents.

Training
He completed his B.A. degree at Wesleyan University in Middletown, CT. He received M.S. and Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from the University of Washington in Seattle, WA.
