Advanced Rehabilitation Research Training (UW-ARRT)

The Department of Rehabilitation Medicine of the University of Washington School of Medicine is initiating a UW-ARRT fellowship program to provide advanced rehabilitation research training for post-doctoral rehabilitation professionals. In any one year two post-doctoral fellows will participate in training.

Mentored Research and Training Opportunities:
The mentored research opportunities provided by the fellowship can focus on any one of many aspects of rehabilitation research, including, but not limited to:
  • disparities in access to health services
  • chronic pain and fatigue
  • community-based rehabilitation interventions
  • use of IRT to improve measurement of rehabilitation outcomes
  • neural control of movement
  • biomechanical movement analysis
  • traumatic brain injury
  • multiple sclerosis
  • health promotion in persons with disabilities
  • amputation and prosthetics
  • speech disorders
  • psychological distress in persons with disabilities
  • pain and fatigue in youth with disabilities
  • technology and disability
  • hypnosis or virtual reality to treat disability
  • improving employment outcomes

The comprehensive UW-ARRT training will include immersion in a mentored research experience, matching post-doctoral fellows with highly successful rehabilitation researchers. In addition, each fellow will participate in complimentary core and individualized didactics, supporting his or her development as a rehabilitation researcher. UW-ARRT will join an outstanding and highly interdisciplinary community of research scientists.
