This table contains numeric codes for Intercollegiate Athletics in which a student can participate. The table also contains a 4 character short description of the sport, and a 15 character long description. Codes range from 1 to 99. Codes 51 and up are assigned to inactive athletes. A student's record can contains up to 5 sport codes (in case a student participates in more than one sport). Also, the sport of football contains subcategories, which are represented by codes 40 through 49. Football players' records contains a 7 (the code for football) in the first sport field, and one of the subcategory codes (40-49) in the second sport field.
