If a potential student indicates on their application he is either a state or UW employee and is applying to matriculate and wants to use the tuition exemption program, a "Y" entry in a field "FAC/STF" is made. If an applicant is not an employee, the field is left blank. The "Y" entry will require the person to submit a tuition exemption request each quarter before he will be allowed to register for courses on STAR. The "Y" entry is interpreted as a 1 or true statement. A null entry is interpreted as false and no exemption is required by the system before registration will be allowed.
