Scientific Innovations Award 2015

http://thebrf.org/Grants/Scientific+Innovations+Award

The Brain Research Foundation has invited eligible US institutions to nominate one senior faculty member to submit a Letter of Intent for the Scientific Innovations Award (SIA). The Brain Research Foundation’s Annual Scientific Innovations Award Program provides funding for innovative science in both basic and clinical neuroscience. This funding mechanism is designed to support creative, exploratory, cutting edge research in well-established research laboratories, under the direction of established investigators.

The objective of the SIA is to support projects that may be too innovative and speculative for traditional funding sources but still have a high likelihood of producing important findings. It is expected that investigations supported by these grants will yield high impact findings and result in major grant applications and significant publications in high impact journals.

  • Funding is to be directed at projects that may be too innovative and speculative for traditional funding sources but still have a high likelihood of producing important findings. This should be a unique project for senior investigators who are encouraged to stretch their imagination into areas that can substantially change an area of research.
  • Funding of research projects that will likely lead to successful grant applications with NIH and other public and private funding entities.

Application Instructions

Please submit a two-page letter of intent with a list of all anticipated investigators, description of proposed aims and approach, Biosketch of the PI, and a letter of support from the Dean or Chair to research@uw.edu by 5:00 PM Thursday, May 1, 2014. Full proposals are due to the sponsor on 7/1/14, so you will need to have your materials in to the Office of Sponsored Programs by 6/24/14 for processing, if given the go ahead by the Proposal Review Committee.

Inquiries and Contact Information

Investigators who identify a grant, award or fellowship program that restricts the number of applications that can be submitted from an Institution should immediately contact their Chairperson, Associate Dean for Research (or Dean, if no ADR) and the Office of Research (see below) if they intend to prepare a response. Failure to do so, or to meet the deadlines for submission of pre-proposal, will preclude submission of the application through the Office of Sponsored Programs.

For general inquiries, or to request a listing of a limited submission opportunity that should be but is not already listed, please email us at limitedsubs@uw.edu.
