2014 Round of the Allen Distinguished Investigators (ADI) Program – Life Sciences Focus: Basic insights into neuronal maturation
*Note: The sponsor has released an RFP and budget template. For a PDF copy, send a request to: research@uw.edu
The Allen Distinguished Investigator (ADI) Program seeks to fund a select group of investigators to pursue new, pioneering research that collectively ‘moves the needle’ towards answering broad scientific questions. The most promising proposals will incorporate novel, creative, and ambitious approaches. For this reason, the program is especially interested in proposals that are unlikely to receive funding from traditional government sources.
This 2014 request for proposals (RFP) focuses on basic insights into human neuronal maturation in vitro.
We expect to fund between 5 and 7 projects with a total funding of $1M-$1.5M, for each project, spanning a 3-year period. The Paul G. Allen Family Foundation has a 0% indirect cost policy. 2014 ADI Life Science awards have an expected combined total of $7.5M. Funding is intended to provide a sustainable funding stream for one or more investigators allowing them sufficient time to investigate big questions in-depth using risky, novel approaches.
Application Instructions
Please submit:

Inquiries and Contact Information
Investigators who identify a grant, award or fellowship program that restricts the number of applications that can be submitted from an Institution should immediately contact their Chairperson, Associate Dean for Research (or Dean, if no ADR) and the Office of Research (see below) if they intend to prepare a response. Failure to do so, or to meet the deadlines for submission of pre-proposal, will preclude submission of the application through the Office of Sponsored Programs.
For general inquiries, or to request a listing of a limited submission opportunity that should be but is not already listed, please email us at limitedsubs@uw.edu.
