Availability of Administrative Supplements to NIGMS Predoctoral Training Grants (Admin Supp)

Limited Submissions

A one-time administrative supplement (PA-15-136) to NIGMS-funded predoctoral training grants is available. There is a budget cap of $80,000 in direct costs per award.The funds from the supplement can be used for the development and implementation of curricular activities aimed at a) providing graduate students with a strong foundation in research design and methods in areas related to conducting reproducible and rigorous research and/or b) broadening training to better prepare students for research careers in a variety of venues, such as industry, government, or entrepreneurial enterprises. 

 

Only one application will be accepted per institution. Institutions such as UW with 2 or more NIGMS predoctoral training grants are expected to cooperate to develop curricula that are broadly applicable to their trainees as per the following information. 

 

  • Funds may be used for: salary support of individuals designing, directing, and implementing the proposed curricular training activity; administrative staff salaries, consultant costs, equipment, research supplies; faculty/staff travel; and other expenses directly related to the proposed curricular training activity.
  • Funds from the supplement cannot be used to support additional trainee slots.

 

  • Applications are due by April 30, 2015.

 

If you meet the criteria of a) heading up an NIH GM pre-doctoral training grant and b) your training grant is active through June 30, 2017 or later. And c) you’re interested in coordinating with other training grants to develop curricula – please email research@uw.edu.

 

The Office of Research will put you all in touch with each other.  If you have already started to formulate plans, let us know that as well.  If there are two or more competing groups then the Office of Research will need to make this a limited submission opportunity.
