U.S. Manufacturing Innovation Fund

Note: This is not a limited submission and is being announced as a courtesy only. Also note: The LOI does not require it, but the (if invited) full application does required a letter of support from the Mayor of Seattle.

Dear Friends.

I am pleased to share with you that a second round of competitive funding under the U.S. Manufacturing Innovation Fund is now open.

The U.S. Manufacturing Innovation Fund, a collaboration among Walmart, the Walmart Foundation, and the United States Conference of Mayors, is dedicated to supporting the development of U.S. manufacturing, with the specific goal of making it more feasible and competitive to make consumer goods in the U.S. Over the five years of this initiative, the U.S. Manufacturing Innovation Fund will award approximately $10M to applied research projects undertaken by 501(c)(3) institutions and public universities to address U.S. manufacturing challenges. $4M was awarded last year alone.

During this second cycle, the U.S. Manufacturing Innovation Fund will prioritize innovation in manufacturing processes for textiles manufacturing (including weaving, fabric dyeing, and cut-and-sew). Submissions of letters of intent to the U.S. Manufacturing Innovation Fund are due by August 24, 2015.

Since these manufacturing processes may be relevant to the work undertaken by you and/or your organization, I encourage you to explore the possibility of submitting aproposal. For reference, I've attached the Request for Proposals (RFP) for the opportunity. More information can also be found on this web page: http://corporate.walmart.com/InnovationFund2015.

Please share this opportunity to your colleagues and relevant membership communities.

Best regards.

Kathleen McLaughlin

President of the Walmart Foundation

Inquiries and Contact Information

Investigators who identify a grant, award or fellowship program that restricts the number of applications that can be submitted from an Institution should immediately contact their Chairperson, Associate Dean for Research (or Dean, if no ADR) and the Office of Research (see below) if they intend to prepare a response. Failure to do so, or to meet the deadlines for submission of pre-proposal, will preclude submission of the application through the Office of Sponsored Programs.

For general inquiries, or to request a listing of a limited submission opportunity that should be but is not already listed, please email us at limitedsubs@uw.edu.
