Expansion of Symptoms of Lower Urinary Tract Dysfunction Research Network (LURN) (U01)

The present Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) is asking for added sites to join the current Symptoms of Lower Urinary Tract Dysfunction Research Network (LURN) investigators to expand on validating symptom-based instruments to measure early, late, transient, and persistent symptoms both in males and females, and to better define the phenotypes of men and women with symptoms of lower urinary tract dysfunction (LUTD). The key responsibilities of the added research sites, and expanded Data Coordinating Center (DCC), will be to adopt the study protocols developed by the LURN investigators, validate the developed Patient Reported Outcome (PRO) measures, recruit study participants, and conduct extensive characterization (phenotyping) of them.

Application Instructions

As the School of Medicine may only submit 1 proposal for this opportunity, the Office of Research and Graduate Education has established an internal review process to determine which proposal(s) will move forward to the funding agency.

To apply for this funding opportunity, please email a 1-2 page letter of intent describing your proposed aims and approach, a list of all anticipated investigators, and a biosketch of the PI to RGE at rgeopps@uw.edu by Friday, Oct.  12, 2012.  Applicants will be notified as soon as a decision is reached.

Inquiries and Contact Information

Investigators who identify a grant, award or fellowship program that restricts the number of applications that can be submitted from an Institution should immediately contact their Chairperson, Associate Dean for Research (or Dean, if no ADR) and the Office of Research (see below) if they intend to prepare a response. Failure to do so, or to meet the deadlines for submission of pre-proposal, will preclude submission of the application through the Office of Sponsored Programs.

For general inquiries, or to request a listing of a limited submission opportunity that should be but is not already listed, please email us at limitedsubs@uw.edu.
