2017 BRCA Translational Award

Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center Consortium has been invited to submit one application for The V Foundation 2017 BRCA Translational Award.  The V Foundation for Cancer Research started in 1993 with a big dream: achieve victory over cancer. Since then, we’ve expanded into an organization that has awarded over $170 million in cancer research grants. It takes a lot of teamwork and dedication to move towards curing cancer. This grant supports projects that move a novel strategy from the laboratory into a human clinical trial or use human specimens from a clinical trial to develop biomarkers or mechanisms. A plan for biomarker validation, if applicable, must be included in any proposal. The endpoint of the project should be the planning or initiation of a new clinical trial.

Candidates MUST at the time of application:

  • Be approved by and nominated by the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center Director (IAC) in the formal application.
  • Hold a faculty position at their cancer research institution.
    • Non-promotable, adjunct, affiliated, temporary, part-time or acting faculty positions are not eligible for Principal Investigator nomination to lead the Research Team.
    • Be either a US citizen, or a permanent legal resident in the US.

Application Instructions

Please submit:

  • a 1-to-2 page letter of intent with a description of proposed aims and approach
  • Biosketch or CV of the PI
  • a letter of support from the Dean or Chair. This letter of support signifies that the Dean or Chair have ensured that the nominee and application are likely to be of sufficient quality to be competitive nationally

Inquiries and Contact Information

Investigators who identify a grant, award or fellowship program that restricts the number of applications that can be submitted from an Institution should immediately contact their Chairperson, Associate Dean for Research (or Dean, if no ADR) and the Office of Research (see below) if they intend to prepare a response. Failure to do so, or to meet the deadlines for submission of pre-proposal, will preclude submission of the application through the Office of Sponsored Programs.

For general inquiries, or to request a listing of a limited submission opportunity that should be but is not already listed, please email us at limitedsubs@uw.edu.
