Student-Athlete Health & Well-Being Grant Program 2018 Cycle

Limited Submissions

Through the Pac-12 Grant Program, the Pac-12 offers research funding to support the advancement of Pac-12 student-athlete health and well-being and has made it a priority to research and develop best practices for general improvements in these areas. The Pac-12 Conference has committed approximately $3,600,000 per year in research grants for projects at Pac-12 institutions designed to improve the health, general well-being, and safety of student-athletes at all Conference member institutions. Partners who are interested in collaborating in Pac-12 supported research projects should contact university staff directly or the Pac-12 Conference to find possible research partners. Specific topics of interest to the Pac-12 member institutions include:

  • Head Trauma
  • Mental Health
  • Nutrition
  • Cardiac
  • Overuse Injuries/Injury Prevention
  • Temperature matters (heat/cold)/Hydration
  • Emergency Care Planning/Prevention of Emergent Medical Events

Application Instructions

Please submit:

  1. a one-page letter of intent with a description of proposed aims and approach; please include the PI’s email and phone number(s) in case there is a question so the review committee can call for clarification (for example, if the PI plans to collaborate we need to understand if there is actual agreement to cooperate from other schools or if it is more of a general idea)
  2. Biosketch or CV of the PI
  3. A letter of support from the Dean or Chair. This letter of support signifies that the Dean or Chair have ensured that the nominee and application are likely to be of sufficient quality to be competitive nationally

 

to research@uw.edu by 5:00 PM Monday July 24, 2017. An LOI is due to the sponsor 9/15/17, so you will need to have your materials in to the Office of Sponsored Programs by 9/7/17 for processing, if given the go ahead by the Proposal Review Committee. Full proposals are due to the sponsor 10/2/17.

Investigators who identify a grant, award or fellowship program that restricts the number of applications that can be submitted from an Institution should immediately contact their Chairperson, Associate Dean for Research (or Dean, if no ADR) and the Office of Research (see below) if they intend to prepare a response. Failure to do so, or to meet the deadlines for submission of pre-proposal, will preclude submission of the application through the Office of Sponsored Programs.
