Andrew Carnegie Fellows 2018

The purpose of the Andrew Carnegie Fellows Program is to support high-caliber scholarship in the social sciences and humanities, making it possible for the recipients to devote time to research and writing that addresses pressing issues and cultural transitions affecting us at home and abroad.

Each nominator may put forward a maximum of two scholars. Nominators from universities may nominate one junior and one senior scholar. Regardless of title, a junior scholar is defined as someone who received his/her Ph.D. within the last ten years, 2008-2018, for the 2018 fellowship program.

Pre-nominations can be made by Departmental or Unit chairs and take the form of a letter describing how a particular faculty member’s research addresses one of the four topic areas that will be considered by the 2018 Carnegie Fellows program (see attached).

2018 topics

  • Strengthening U.S. democracy and exploring new narratives

Inquiries and Contact Information

Investigators who identify a grant, award or fellowship program that restricts the number of applications that can be submitted from an Institution should immediately contact their Chairperson, Associate Dean for Research (or Dean, if no ADR) and the Office of Research (see below) if they intend to prepare a response. Failure to do so, or to meet the deadlines for submission of pre-proposal, will preclude submission of the application through the Office of Sponsored Programs.

For general inquiries, or to request a listing of a limited submission opportunity that should be but is not already listed, please email us at limitedsubs@uw.edu.
