Research at the Frontiers of X-Ray Free Electron Laser Ultrafast Chemical and Materials Sciences
Apologies for the tight turn around for this:
https://science.energy.gov/~/media/grants/pdf/foas/2018/SC_FOA_0001904.pdf
This FOA supports fundamental research for public benefit in materials and chemical sciences enabled by new ultrafast x-ray free electron laser (XFEL) capabilities at LCLS-II and its prospective upgrades (https://lcls.slac.stanford.edu/lcls-ii). Applications must focus on XFEL-based research and address the Priority Research Opportunities identified in the recent BES Roundtable Report, “Opportunities for Basic Research at the Frontiers of XFEL Ultrafast Science.” Applications should clearly articulate how the research addresses the new scientific opportunities articulated in the Roundtable Report at: https://science.energy.gov/~/media/bes/pdf/reports/2018/Ultrafast_x-ray_science_rpt.pdf
Application Instructions
Please submit:
- a one-page letter of intent with a description of proposed aims and approach
- Biosketch or CV of the PI
to research@uw.edu by 10:00 PM Thursday, April 19, 2018. A required LOI is due 4/30/18, so you will need to have your materials in to OSP by 4/20/18 for processing, if given the go-ahead by the review committee. Full proposals are due to the sponsor 5/21/18.
Inquiries and Contact Information
Investigators who identify a grant, award or fellowship program that restricts the number of applications that can be submitted from an Institution should immediately contact their Chairperson, Associate Dean for Research (or Dean, if no ADR) and the Office of Research (see below) if they intend to prepare a response. Failure to do so, or to meet the deadlines for submission of pre-proposal, will preclude submission of the application through the Office of Sponsored Programs.
For general inquiries, or to request a listing of a limited submission opportunity that should be but is not already listed, please email us at limitedsubs@uw.edu.
