Office of Research

Medical Funds Program

Update: OR internal deadline changing to 3/12/20

The Medical Funds are available for specific equipment for medical research on cancer, cardio-pulmonary disorders, multiple sclerosis (and related diseases), arthritis and diabetes. Related or basic research projects that can potentially build knowledge to strengthen the diagnosis or treatment of these disorders are also encouraged to apply. A review committee comprised of senior medical researchers will evaluate the request based on scientific merit, support from other recognized research funding resources, and other factors.

Medical Funds are also available for specific equipment, capital campaigns or renovations for organizations serving the health care needs of low income children.

This yearly opportunity was typically available mid to end of year but the timeline for the Medical Funds has moved earlier in the year by the Seattle Foundation. Final proposals to the sponsor were previously done via form; this process has changed to an online application.

Inquiries and Contact Information

Investigators who identify a grant, award or fellowship program that restricts the number of applications that can be submitted from an Institution should immediately contact their Chairperson, Associate Dean for Research (or Dean, if no ADR) and the Office of Research (see below) if they intend to prepare a response. Failure to do so, or to meet the deadlines for submission of pre-proposal, will preclude submission of the application through the Office of Sponsored Programs.

For general inquiries, or to request a listing of a limited submission opportunity that should be but is not already listed, please email us at limitedsubs@uw.edu.
