The objective of the BRF Seed Grant Program is to support new and innovative projects, especially those of junior faculty, who are working in new research directions. BRF Seed Grant awards are not intended to supplement existing grants. Funding is to be directed at pilot research projects that are both innovative and will likely lead to successful grant applications to NIH and other public and private funding entities.
Note: Applicants must be in a tenure track position at the time of the LOI.
Application Instructions
Please submit:
- a one-page letter of intent with a description of proposed aims and approach
- CV (not NIH format) of the PI
to research@uw.edu by 5:00 PM Thursday, November 11, 2021. Proposals are due to the 1/4/22 so you will need to have your materials in to the Office of Sponsored Programs by 12/22/21 for processing, if given the go ahead by the Proposal Review Committee. Other

Investigators who identify a grant, award or fellowship program that restricts the number of applications that can be submitted from an Institution should immediately contact their Chairperson, Associate Dean for Research (or Dean, if no ADR) and the Office of Research (see below) if they intend to prepare a response. Failure to do so, or to meet the deadlines for submission of pre-proposal, will preclude submission of the application through the Office of Sponsored Programs.
