Schmidt Science Polymaths 2022

Schmidt Futures is seeking nominations for an exciting new talent program, called the Schmidt Science Polymaths, which aims to encourage the best “polymath” scientists to expand their research portfolios by exploring a substantive disciplinary shift after achieving tenure. Current Polymaths represent 14 institutions across 5 nations, and work in Life Sciences, Physical Sciences, Computational Sciences, Materials Science, Engineering, and beyond.  Learn more about current Schmidt Science Polymaths and their work at https://www.schmidtfutures.com/our-work/schmidt-science-polymaths/.

The Foundation is looking for the most promising and innovative researchers who have a track record of thinking across disciplinary boundaries and who have recently achieved tenure.  Eligible candidates should be innovative researchers who have:

         - Achieved tenure (or equivalent status) within the past 3 years,

         - A remarkable record of accomplishment in area(s) of science and engineering,

         - A demonstrated history of pursuing and publishing results in more than one field,

         - A need for additional funding to enable exploratory experiments, Innovative new lines of inquiry and shifts of new research directions.

  1. A 1-2 page nomination letter, endorsing the candidate, confirming eligibility, and indicating that the candidate is nationally competitive
  2. CV of the PI

to limitedsubs@uw.edu by 5:00 PM Wednesday, August 17, 2022. If a nominee is invited to apply by the foundation, final applications will be due 10/17/2022.

Failure to do so, or to meet the deadlines for submission of pre-proposal, will preclude submission of the application through the Office of Sponsored Programs.
