2023 Alan T. Waterman Award
Note: This is not a limited submission and is being announced as a courtesy only.
Established in 1975 to commemorate the Foundation's first Director, the Waterman Award is NSF's highest honor for promising, early-career researchers. Nominees are accepted from any field of science and engineering that NSF supports.
The award recipient will receive a medal and an invitation to a formal awards ceremony. In addition, the recipient will receive a grant of $1,000,000 to use over a five-year period for scientific research or advanced study in any field of science or engineering supported by the NSF, at the institution of the recipient's choice. NSF encourages nominations for individuals from a range of institution types and that reflect the rich demographic and geographic diversity of the U.S.
The nomination of deserving colleagues is one of the most important and gratifying aspects of service in the scientific and engineering communities. Please help celebrate the contributions of a promising early career researcher by submitting a nomination for the Alan T. Waterman award.

Inquiries and Contact Information
Investigators who identify a grant, award or fellowship program that restricts the number of applications that can be submitted from an Institution should immediately contact their Chairperson, Associate Dean for Research (or Dean, if no ADR) and the Office of Research (see below) if they intend to prepare a response. Failure to do so, or to meet the deadlines for submission of pre-proposal, will preclude submission of the application through the Office of Sponsored Programs.
For general inquiries, or to request a listing of a limited submission opportunity that should be but is not already listed, please email us at limitedsubs@uw.edu.
