Department of Defense University Cybersecurity Consortium

UPDATE: On 2/28/2024, the funding agency rescinded this opportunity through email with the UW point of contact. No proposals will be accepted and no re-release is expected.

UW is designated as a National Center of Academic Excellence in Cybersecurity (NCAE-C) and known as National Centers of Academic Excellence in Cyber Defense, Research, and/or National Centers of Academic Excellence in Cyber Operations (hereinafter referred to as NCAE-Cs).

The National Security Agency / NCAE-C Program Office is soliciting proposals on behalf of the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) University Consortium for Cybersecurity (UC2). UC2 invites the community to provide responses in the format of research proposals for innovative and actionable approaches related to the following three topics: "Modeling and Predictive Analytics,” "Persona and Influence,” and "Data and Permeability.” See section 2.4 of the solicitation pdf for details.

UW has the opportunity to submit two proposals as coalition lead or coalition partner, as we hold two designations (CAE-R and CAE-CD). For the purposes of this proposal, a coalition is a group of two to five academic institutions organized under the leadership of one NCAE-C designated institution for the purposes of accomplishing a solicited initiative. The lead institution will make sub-awards to other coalition members and manage the research program. UW’s NCAE-C point of contact, Prof. Marc Dupuis (marcjd@uw.edu) must be included either directly or indirectly with the proposed project. This grant can only support US citizens or permanent residents, and no foreign travel is allowed.

Inquiries and Contact Information

Investigators who identify a grant, award or fellowship program that restricts the number of applications that can be submitted from an Institution should immediately contact their Chairperson, Associate Dean for Research (or Dean, if no ADR) and the Office of Research (see below) if they intend to prepare a response. Failure to do so, or to meet the deadlines for submission of pre-proposal, will preclude submission of the application through the Office of Sponsored Programs.

For general inquiries, or to request a listing of a limited submission opportunity that should be but is not already listed, please email us at limitedsubs@uw.edu.
