FY25 Saltonstall-Kennedy Pre-Proposal Competition

NOAA Fisheries seeks applications that demonstrate direct benefits to U.S. fisheries and meaningful participation of fishing communities. The term “U.S. fisheries” refers to any marine fishery (including the Great Lakes) that encompasses commercial, recreational, charter, subsistence, wild capture, and aquaculture that is, or may be, engaged in by citizens or nationals of the United States or other eligible applicants.

NOAA Fisheries has recommended more than $6 million in grants for 16 projects under the 2024 Saltonstall-Kennedy Competitive Grants Program. The S-K Grant Competition is open to applicants from a variety of sectors, including individuals, industry, academia, and state, local and tribal governments.

The projects fall under three priorities:

  • Promotion and Marketing
  • Development, Infrastructure, and Capacity Building
  • Science or Technology that Enhances Sustainable U.S. Fisheries

Examples of previously funded programs are here.

This year's competition will consist of two separate solicitations: one for pre-proposals and one for full proposals. The current solicitation is for pre-proposal submission only. All interested applicants must submit a two-page pre-proposal in order to be eligible to submit a full proposal later. A separate Notice of Funding Opportunity for full proposals will post in Grants.gov on September 26, 2024.

Inquiries and Contact Information

Investigators who identify a grant, award or fellowship program that restricts the number of applications that can be submitted from an Institution should immediately contact their Chairperson, Associate Dean for Research (or Dean, if no ADR) and the Office of Research (see below) if they intend to prepare a response. Failure to do so, or to meet the deadlines for submission of pre-proposal, will preclude submission of the application through the Office of Sponsored Programs.

For general inquiries, or to request a listing of a limited submission opportunity that should be but is not already listed, please email us at limitedsubs@uw.edu.
