Office of Research

Medical Funds Program

Seattle Foundation administers the Medical Funds program to support:

  • purchasing of medical equipment which supports medical research of potential benefit to the community, OR
  • to address the specific healthcare needs of low-income children

All applicant organizations must be located primarily in King County and qualify as tax-exempt public charity under Section 501(c)(3) of the IRS Code.

Medical Research Proposals

Highest priority will be given to specific equipment requests for research projects working on cancer, cardio-pulmonary, multiple sclerosis (or “kindred diseases”), arthritis or autoimmune or inflammatory disease more broadly, and diabetes. Research projects that don’t specifically focus on one of these conditions but that could potentially impact their diagnosis or treatment are also encouraged to apply, including basic research.

Healthcare Needs of Low-Income Children

Highest priority will be given to capital campaigns, facility renovation projects or specific equipment needs in support of the healthcare needs of low-income children.

Inquiries and Contact Information

Investigators who identify a grant, award or fellowship program that restricts the number of applications that can be submitted from an Institution should immediately contact their Chairperson, Associate Dean for Research (or Dean, if no ADR) and the Office of Research (see below) if they intend to prepare a response. Failure to do so, or to meet the deadlines for submission of pre-proposal, will preclude submission of the application through the Office of Sponsored Programs.

For general inquiries, or to request a listing of a limited submission opportunity that should be but is not already listed, please email us at limitedsubs@uw.edu.
