BEFORE
ANYTHING ELSE...
- Have a strong commitment
for change
- Have coping strategies to
fall back on when problems that may arise
- Set up feedback and
monitoring from outside sources (friends, family, etc.) which can play
an essential role in maintaining your resolution
- Set aside time to really
plan out what you want and expect from yourself in your goal(s)
- Choose realistic goals
TIPS FOR ACHIEVING SUCCESS:
- Keep diligent track of the
progress you make toward your goal(s)
- Allow room for temporary
set back. A stumble in your resolution should be viewed as just
that; a stumble--not a roadblock or an excuse to quit
- Take credit for your
successes (and use them to fall back on when difficulties arise)
IN ORDER TO SUCCEED, TRY NOT
TO...
- Make resolutions at the
last possible minute
- Keep your goal(s) too
general
- Base your goals for change
on what's bothering you at a temporary moment in time
- State your resolutions as
"I will never do 'X' again!"
