Software

System for Population Kinetics Analysis (SPK)

The mandate for RFPK is to develop and support new software tools for biomedical research. The current focus is on population kinetic analysis. In designing SPK, RFPK has evaluated the algorithms currently being used in this area, and, more generally, in nonlinear hierarchical mixed effects models. The initial release of SPK reflects this evaluation. RFPK's unique team of biomedical scientists, mathematicians, statisticians, and software engineers have produced a new library of algorithms that, when completed, will be:

  • More robust than similar software products, and able to deal with larger systems and models,
  • Fully documented and tested,
  • Produce results compatible with similar current software products,
  • Be faster on benchmark problems than existing software products.

To clarify some of SPK's planned capabilities and architecture, we are making available a series of white papers:

#Presentation includes present and planned capabilities and an overview of our development philosophy and plans.

SPK is now available as a Web service:
Go to https://spk.rfpk.washington.edu/info/ and select "MySPK" in the left menu.

RFPK is interested in working with software developers who wish to incorporate the SPK library into domain-specific software products, thus making SPK's power available to a wide audience of users.

Software developers and other parties who are interested in contacting RFPK about the possibility of evaluating SPK should contact Paolo Vicini (vicini@u.washington.edu).
