FAQs

What is RHSA?

The Residence Hall Student Association (RHSA) is the officially recognized representative body for the over 5400 students living in the University of Washington Residence Halls and Stevens Court apartments. Representatives from each of the seven halls and Stevens Ct., and the executive board members, have weekly meetings. The meeting location alternates between north and south campus. RHSA advises Housing and Food Services on policies, and budget changes and distributes funds. We sponsor and organize a wide variety of programs and activities for all residents. It has general programming funds of over $10,000, providing a variety of programs including our annual Winterfest, Spring Dance, Progressive Dinner, as well as a variety of educational workshops designed to promote community, diversity and understanding. In addition, RHSA acts as a link to the campus community by representing the resident's views and concerns to Housing and Food Services, the University of Washington Administration, the Associated Students of the University of Washington (ASUW), and the Seattle community.

Where does RHSA meet?

Our meetings alternate between the McCarty AB rooms and the Lander L-135 room. We meet every week while school is in session (except for Summer Quarter) at 4:30pm.

How can I become involved?

Everyone is welcome at our meetings, including non-residents. You can also become involved in your hall council, take a look at our Get Involved page and try out your next hall council meeting!

How can my hall council get more money for our awesome program?

Go to our Funding page, where the RHSA Treasurer has described how to sumbit a funding request form.

I have a concern/suggestion with my experience in the halls, who should I talk to?

Contact the RHSA President who will see that your concern/suggestions are addressed to HFS.

My son or daughter didn't get their care package. Who do I talk to about this?

The Welcome/Care Package program is run through "On-Campus Marketing". The Residence Hall Student Association partners with this company to provide care package service, but has no part in creating the product. Please contact "On-Campus Marketing" directly with questions about ordering or the product; their phone number should be listed on the mailing you received. RHSA facilitates the distribution of care packages once they are on campus. Students MUST check their mail boxes, where their packages will come and then take the package slip to their front desk. Please direct questions about lost and/or unpicked-up packages to the RHSA National Communication Coordinator. Thank you!

Is the Residence Hall Student Association in charge of residence hall operations?

No, If you have questions about your room assignment or other operational factors of the residence halls please contact Housing and Food Services.

What if I have a question that isn't on this list?

Our contact information is on the left of your screen, email us or give us a call, we'd love to hear from you!
