Hall Council

RHSA, in representing and providing leadership opportunities for the 5,400 students living on campus, has seven autonomous hall councils to represent the different halls. The hall councils provide an excellent opportunity to get involved in your community, meet other motivated student leaders, and to plan fun programs for the residents. Fall Quarter is the primary recruitment time for Hall Council, with the main elections being the second week of the quarter. However, due to shifting schedules and class loads, positions open throughout the year.

To see which positions are currently open click the link to your building on the left, contact the hall president for an application!

To learn more or to start getting involved in your hall council, attend the weekly Hall Council Meeting for your building listed below:

Hansee / 2104 House - Monday @ 5:00pm Blaine Ballroom
McCarty - Monday @ 5:00pm AB Rooms
Haggett - Monday @ 5:00pm Grey Lounge
McMahon - Monday @ 5:00pm Pompeii Room
Lander - Monday @ 5:00pm L-135
Terry - Monday @ 5:00pm L-132
Mercer - Monday @ 5:00pm Mercer Basement
Stevens Court - Monday @ 5:00pm Stevens Court Community Center

Floor Representatives
For each hall council there is a need for motivated student leaders to fill the role of Floor Representative. Being a floor representative is an excellent way to start getting involved in your building and community and to learn more about RHSA and Hall Council, while not requiring a large time commitment.

Other Organizations

ASUW
Associated Students of the University of Washington (ASUW)
Head At-Large RHSA Senator: Mike Weiler
RHSA has 44 Senators in the ASUW. It is important that every seat is filled so that those in the halls have a powerful voice in issues that directly affect all students, such as tuition and academic policy. As a Senator, you would be insuring the halls their place in the university community. The ASUW Student Senate is comprised of students from campus organizations, living groups (RHSA), and the ASUW diversity commissions. Every week the Student Senate gathers to discuss issues important to students at the University of Washington and establish resolutions of student opinion. These resolutions help guide our elected leaders and dedicated volunteers as they represent us on Shared Governance Committees. All students are welcome to submit legislation for the Senate to debate, and while only Senators may vote, there are openings available for students interested in serving a term as a Senator. (Application available on the Documents page)

NRHH
National Residence Hall Honorary (NRHH)
Director: Beth Gawne
The National Residence Hall Honorary (NRHH) is comprised of the top 1% of student leaders in the halls. The focus of NRHH is to provide recognition to the students making outstanding contributions to the residence hall community. To learn more about NRHH visit their website for more information. Get involved in this great organization by submitting awards of your fellow peers exemplifying great leadership skills throughout the residence halls.

SEED
Students Expressing Environmental Dedication (SEED)
Director: Andrew Chesterfield
SEED is an organization for UW students working to introduce and continue sustainable practices on the University of Washington campus. SEED began by establishing recycling programs in the residence halls and were instrumental in getting the new compostable coca cola cups. They are continuing to expand environmentally-friendly practices and allow students to meet, organize, and have fun while making the planet more a livable place.

PRB
Peer Review Board (PRB)
Board Adviser: David Daniels
The PRB, composed of student representatives from the residence halls, provides residents with the opportunity to become actively involved in the student conduct process. The purpose of the PRB is to adjudicate alleged violations of the Residence Hall System Contract and to determine appropriate sanctions for residents responsible for contract violations. Residents are encouraged to apply to become PRB members.
