Students studying at the UW Rome Center are housed in apartments in Rome's historic center. Apartment living allows students the opportunity to cook their own meals and to get to know different parts of the city.
The UW Rome Center arranges for UW student accommodations in centrally-located apartments (within an approximately 30-minute walk from the Rome Center). All apartments are furnished and provide basic equipment for cooking & dining, as well as bed linens and towels.
All students studying in Rome are required to have a cell
phone with an Italian phone number for program/emergency
purposes. Program directors will compile a list of all
student cell phone contacts within the first few days of the
program. Students may choose from one of the following two
options:
a) Bring their U.S. phone (unlocked) and buy an Italian phone
chip (costs about 10 euros).
b) Purchase an Italian cell phone in Rome, for as little as
40-50 euros. At the end of the program, students choosing
this option might wish to pass their phone on to friends or
other participants in subsequent Rome programs.
