After over 18 years of research into the Physics of plasmas, the Redmond Plasma Physics Laboratory has closed due to lack of funding. The web site will remain for a time for reference purposes.
The Redmond Plasma Physics Laboratory was an off-campus facility of the
Aerospace and Energetics Research Program of the
University of Washington's
Department of Aeronautics and
Astronautics. Studies at RPPL center around the Field Reversed
Configuration (FRC) alternate
magnetic confinement fusion concept utilizing Rotating Magnetic Fields
(RMF).
