List of Scholarships When you inquire about information pertaining to scholarships, be courteous--remember, you want their money. Here is common protocol for finding information of this nature: If you call, introduce yourself and speak clearly and slowly. Ask for information politely and have writing materials on hand to write what you are told; avoid calling again to ask the same questions. Thank the person you talk with before hanging up. If you write, send a short concise letter requesting information and an application for a specific scholarship. Send a self-addressed, stamped envelope along with the letter for their convenience and to speed the process. When you win the scholarship you can deduct the cost of the stamp from the scholarship. If you e-mail, follow the letter writing guidelines. Be sure to check your e-mail frequently for a response; they may have questions for you. However, if you don't receive a response the next day, don't panic. The scholarship is most likely not the only thing on the organization's agenda. O.K., O.K., enough already.
