Job Summary:
Perform the following duties under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist. Reviewing and interpreting prescriptions, compounds, and accurately
dispenses medication, while maintaining efficient workflow to provide timely delivery. Maintain inventory and record keeping
for narcotics and similar drugs
Major Responsibilities:
- Reviews and approves prescriptions to be filled by pharmacy technicians according to State Board of Pharmacy regulations
- Conducts Drug Utilization Review (DUR) working with patient medical information on all prescriptions
- Performs the "final check" of filled prescriptions to ensure order accuracy and timely delivery
- Works with Pharmacy Operations Manager to ensure compliance with State and Federal regulations and company policy and
procedures as they pertain to controlled substances and legend drugs
- Works with Pharmacy Operations Manager to ensure that implementation of quality and cost containment strategies (Pre-pack,
Front-End process, Cycle-Fill, etc.) occurs on all dispensing and procurement activities.
- Provides clinical expertise by responding to drug-related questions and concerns initiated by Pharmacistal (Technicians,
Nursing Staff) and external (Directors of Nursing, Administrators, and NUrsing Staff) customers.
- Works with pharmacy management to provide guidance, direction, and training to pharmacy associates
- Works with pharmacy management on other responsibilities, special projects, and initiatives as needed

- Education/Learning Experience
- Required: Bachelor's degree of Pharm.D. from an accredited School of Pharmacy
- Work Experience:
- Required: 0 - 1 year in a retail, mail-order or institutional pharmacy environment
- Desired: 3 - 5 years experience in a retail, mail-order or institutional pharmacy environment, Prior supervisory experience
- Skills/Knowledge:
- Required: Knowledge of federal and state regulations, knowledge of drug interactions, computer data entry skills.
- Licenses/Certifications:
- Required: Current state R.Ph license
- Behavior Competencies:
- Required: Detail orientation, technical competence, analytical ability, planning/organizing, oral communication and teamwork
- Desired: Problem Solving ability
