Acknowledgments
SALT 13 was made possible by
the financial support of the Graduate School, Walter Chapin Simpson Center for
the Humanities, College of Arts and Sciences, Dept. of Linguistics, Dept. of
Germanics, Dept. of Philosophy, and Dept. of Computer Science at University of
Washington. We hereby gratefully acknowledge their generous support.
We received 112 abstracts
this year, and 15 papers were selected along with three alternates. We had the
good fortune of being able to rely on the 65 reviewers, who gave us detailed
written comments in addition to numerical scores. The printout of the written
comments amounted to more than 100 single-spaced pages. Their comments were
extremely helpful in the final stage of the selection process. We gratefully acknowledge
the contribution of the following dedicated semanticists:
Barbara Abbott, Dorit Abush,
Kent Bach, Chris Barker, David Beaver, Sigrid Beck, Maria Bittner, Daniel

We also appreciate the help provided by the department's
administrator Kathryn Speranza. Other faculty members and graduate students
helped us in many different ways. In particular, we thank Fritz Newmeyer (not
only for providing his house for the party on Friday and for being its host but
also for being a good advisor), Karen Zagona (for making many crucial
suggestions at various stages of conference preparation) Julia Herschensohn
(for being supportive throughout the ÅgprojectÅh), and Chia-Hui Huang (for
providing us with a wealth of practical skills needed for running a conference
and simply for being available and encouraging us in many ways). During the
last stage of the conference preparation, many graduate students provided us
with a lot of volunteer support. We would like to thank them all. Lastly, we
would like to thank previous SALT organizers, in particular Anna Szabolcsi and Chris Barker, who provided many suggestions that
would not have been available anywhere else.
