Description
Founded in 1974, the Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers is a national non-profit organization that promotes Latinos in engineering, math, and science. Every year, SHPE host the a conference entitled "Future Meets Present." This year, the conference was changed to "Esperanza En Educación" to go with our goals of preparing the Latino community for college. During the conference we provide workshops encourage underrepresented minority students to attend a higher education institution and expose them to the educational resources available to ensure their success. In addition, participants have the opportunity to interact with professionals in science and engineering fields among other academic areas of interest. Participants also benefit by increasing his/her chance of obtaining one of SHPE's national scholarships.
