How do I become a member of ASUW?
Being an ASUW member does not cost you anything.
As a member of the ASUW you can be hired for ASUW paid positions, run
for office in ASUW elections, participate in the ASUW Student Senate,
vote in the annual ASUW elections, and petition for changes in the ASUW
Constitution. You can also hold positions on ASUW committees or serve
as an ASUW representative on a variety of university committees.
You can choose to become an ASUW member during the quarterly registration
process. Simply check Yes for Do you want to be a member
of the Associated Students of the University of Washington? on
the Insurance/Optional Charges webpage. If you wish to become a member
during a non-registration period you can fill out a simple form in the
SAO. The paperwork takes less than a minute to fill out and is effective
immediately. You also have the opportunity to register for membership
every year during the ASUW elections. Check the ASUW
Elections webpage during election days to exercise this option.
How do I reserve one of the Sports Facilities?
RSOs may reserve any of the sports facilties
but it requires that you meet with your SAO Adviser to complete the Sports
Facilities Use Questionnaire before your reservation is confirmed.
For additional information, check the RSO
Handbook - Sports Facilities section.
How do I get a Tax ID number for my RSO?
Tax IDs (also known as Employer Identification
Numbers - EINs) are issued only by the Internal
Revenue Service. Tax IDs (EINs) are necessary most often when opening a bank account for an RSO.
However, there may be other instances when an RSO will be asked to have or provide an EIN.
The SAO has the EIN request form (SS-4) available in the office. All requests must be submitted directly to the IRS.
Additionally, please check the following resources:

change from year to year.

How do we reserve meeting or event space on campus?
Reserving rooms/facilities can be a tricky thing. It depends
on what you are reserving the room for, which room/facility you are interested
in and for how long. Each facility that provides meeting or event space
to student organizations have different reservation and
facility charges. Most facilities often require that student organizations check
with the SAO before contacting them for a reservation. Other facilities require specific payment arrangements
to be made. You can check the Facility Use by Registered Student
Organizations for more information. However, the best thing to do is
to come in and check with an SAO staff member when your organization needs
to reserve a room or facility.
