In Case of Emergency
In case of any emergency in the HUB, you will most likely be asked to exit the HUB by UW/SAUF staff and/or HUB student staff. Please remain calm and promptly exit the building using the nearest stairwell and entrance - never use the elevators during an evacuation - and remain a safe distance away from the building after exiting. Staff members have ultimate authority in handling emergency situations in the HUB. When the HUB is evacuated, re-entry is allowed only after University Police or Seattle Firefighters have determined and handled the emergency.
Other emergency tips:
Prepare to support yourself for 72 hours: assemble supplies or purchase an emergency pack. The HUB Newsstand sells 72-hour Survival
Kits.
Be aware of emergency EXIT ROUTES in all situations. In an earthquake: If inside drop cover, and hold; if outside, move away from buildings, trees and power lines.
Everyone is required to evacuate the HUB during an alarm. Fire Marshalls and Police
authorities have and will issue citations to persons who are unwilling to follow evacuation policies.
Call 206-547-INFO (4636): The UW telephone number for emergency information and announcements
about campus conditions.
Always carry identification and cash.
Call 911 ONLY in a life threatening situation.
Out-of-area contact: Note the name and telephone number for this family contact person.
