BSE is a capacity-constrained major. UW admissions information

Incoming Freshman Applicants:

University of Washington INCOMING freshmen applicants interested in BSE may seek direct admission here. The deadline for freshman applicants is November 15th.

Current UW and Transfer Student Applicants:

Current UW and transfer students may apply ONLY through the College of Engineering website* at *Note: the online application is opened in early to mid-June for autumn application and early to mid-January for spring application.

Although the major does not have a set list of prerequisites, it is  recommended that current UW applicants complete as much of the freshmen/sophomore curriculum as possible before applying to the program. This includes the calculus, chemistry, and physics courses. The  suggested course sequencing can be used as a guideline for planning coursework.

Transfer students: meet with your community college adviser to plan your coursework. Many of the courses you will need are part of sequences, and since some of the courses will be offered only certain quarters, it is critical to know the timing of course offerings at your college. To find out how courses from a Washington State community college will transfer to the University of Washington you can use the UW Equivalency Guide.
