Welcome to the CSNE Wiki!
A wiki is a website which can be edited and modified by anyone, allowing for collaboration and information sharing with both wiki users and the general public. The CSNE wiki is akin to a very basic version of Wikipedia. This is a quick guide to get you started.
CSNE Wiki Accounts
Step 1: You can view all public information on the wiki without registering or logging in. If you wish to edit or add information, you must first click here to create an account. Your username will be the name you use to login to the wiki.
Step 2: You will receive an e-mail with a link to confirm your registration. If you don't receive an e-mail within an hour of registering, or if the link you receive isn't functional, please send an e-mail to firstname.lastname@example.org.
Step 3: Once your registration is confirmed, click "Login" on the top right corner of the site to log in to your account. Alternatively, you can click "edit" (top right corner of the site) on any existing page and you will automatically be asked for your username and password.
CSNE Wiki Navigation
Step 4: Most pages are accessible through the right side navigation bar. Prior to logging in you'll be able to view all public information, but any areas of the wiki restricted to CSNE members will only be visible after you've logged in.
CSNE Wiki Editing/Modification
Step 5: After logging in, click "edit" in the top right hand corner to modify the contents of any wiki page.
Step 6: This will take you to the editing page. The bottom of the editing page is a brief overview of wiki formatting. The basics are:
- To create a new paragraph, just insert a new line.
- To create a bulleted list, add a "*" before each list item.
- To create a numbered list, add a "#" before each list item.
- To italicize text, surround it with two ''apostrophes''.
- To create bold text, surround it with three '''apostrophes'''.
- To create a link, [[http://your-URL | Link Text]]
- Example: [[http://google.com | Search Google]] becomes Search Google
Step 7: Don't worry about modifying the "summary," "author," or "minor edit" fields.
Step 8: If you want to view what your edits would look like before saving them, click "Preview" below the editing window.
Step 9: To save your modifications, click "Save" below the editing window.
