The Nature and Purpose of This Website.
This web site is a project of the Teen Futures Media Network based in the College of Education at the University of Washington. The purpose of this project is to enhance media literacy as it relates to issues of sexuality represented in all forms of media. Media literacy is the ability to access, analyze, evaluate and produce communication in all forms.

Materials, exercises and resources in each of the areas featured on this site are intended to encourage and promote greater understanding of how media representations reflect and shape our world. These materials also are placed on this site for the purpose of encouraging problem solving and reflection about the ways in which beliefs and values are embedded in all media messages, that commercial interests drive media products, and the ways in which audiences negotiate the meaning of media messages.
