Guangqiu Liang is currently a sophomore majoring in math at the University of Washington. Born and raised in China, he developed an early interest in math because of Go, an ancient Chinese board game that has been accompanying him for more than two-thirds of his life. Back in middle school, he was particularly into the topic of planar geometry, on which he spent countless hours playing with triangles and circles. Two years ago, Guangqiu embarked on the journey of pursuing his college education in the U.S. After trying a large variety of courses such as physics, computer science, earth and space science, and literature, he eventually believed his passion indeed lies within the realm of math. In college, he is interested in the study of differential equation and elliptic integrals. However, besides Go and math, he is also a big fan of soccer, history, and piano.
