University of Washington Residence Halls (Dorms)

UW Conferences Services is now accepting reservations to stay in the UW Residence Halls (dorms) for SISMID 2014 attendees on a space-available basis only. Please read all of the information thoroughly about staying in the UW Residence Halls to ensure you understand their policies and make a well-informed decision about your lodging needs.

Package Description

Special nightly rates have been created to provide campus housing for guests participating in SISMID 2014. There is no credit for shorter stays and reservations are nontransferable. Reservations must be made by Friday, June 13, 2014. Reservations received after this date are charged a $25.00 Late Reservation Fee (plus applicable tax) and are only processed on a space-available basis. Reservations by walk-in attendees will not be accepted.

Limited Early Arrival and Late Departure housing is available on the nights of July 5 through July 6, 2014 and July 25 through July 26, 2014 ONLY. There is no refund for canceled Early Arrival or Late Departure nights AFTER the reservation deadline date of Friday, June 13, 2014.

If you select a Double room, you may indicate a roommate preference, and mutual requests will be honored. If you select a Double Room and DO NOT designate a roommate, one will be assigned. Each guest must complete a separate reservation form and submit payment.


Conference guests will reside in double- or single-occupancy rooms with private baths. All rooms are furnished with twin-size beds, desks, nightstands, dressers, bedding, towels, a small fan, soap, toilet paper and drinking cups. Telephones providing Conference guests with free local service are available at the Conference Desk. University of Washington residence halls are passively ventilated and not air conditioned. Hardwired Ethernet access is available in sleeping rooms for those who bring their computers (Ethernet cord required). University of Washington wireless access is available in all public areas of campus and is also accessible in guest rooms. The required login and password are issued by the Conference Desk. Microwave ovens, laundry facilities, television lounges and other gathering areas are conveniently located in each residence hall. Guests may deposit funds into their conference card laundry account at the Conference Desk. University of Washington residence halls are designed for adult usage, and facilities are not childproof. Adults are responsible for the supervision of their children at all times. Smoking anywhere at the University of Washington is prohibited including in residence hall sleeping rooms. A list of designated outdoor smoking areas is available from the Conference Desk. The University of Washington is a pedestrian campus, and the residence halls are within a ten- to fifteen-minute walk of most meeting facilities on campus. Guests can check in at the Conference Desk located at Lander Hall which will be open 24 hours, 7 days a week. The residence halls are nearby in the West Campus area.


  • Reservations will not be processed unless full payment is received with the reservation. Advance payment must be made in U.S. dollars by check or Visa/MasterCard.
  • Reservations paid by check must be mailed. Checks must be drawn on a United States bank account, made payable to the University of Washington, and mailed with the printed reservation form. The University of Washington charges $25.00 for all returned checks. Click here to Download and Print the Reservation Form.
  • Reservations paid by Visa/MasterCard will be submitted online. Your online reservation authorizes the University of Washington to charge your credit card for costs incurred once you have completed the online reservation process. Additional charges can be, but are not limited to, those such as additional nights of lodging, dining, parking, damages or unreturned keys.
  • The University of Washington reserves the legal right for recovery of reasonable attorney fees, court costs and other reasonable collection costs, including payment of collection agency fees.

Cancellation and Refunds:

All refund requests and reservation changes resulting in a refund will include a $20.00 (plus applicable tax) refund processing fee.

  • If the cancellation is received by the Conference Services Office on or before Friday, June 13, 2014, the prepayment less the Refund Processing Fee (plus applicable tax) will be refunded.
  • If the cancellation is received by the Conference Services Office after Friday, June 13, 2014, but before the scheduled arrival date, the prepayment less the Refund Processing Fee, the Late Reservation Fee (if applicable) and one day of room and board (plus applicable tax) will be retained and the balance refunded.
  • If no advance cancellation is received by the Conference Services Office and you do not check-in, no refund will be issued.


Once your reservation and full payment have been processed, you will be sent an email confirmation with your check-in location, travel directions to campus and additional information. SISMID 2014 attendees may check-in any time after 2:00 PM (1400) and must check-out by 11:00 AM (1100) unless the confirmation states otherwise.

Public Transportation (Light Rail + Metro Bus):

  • About Riding the Light Rail: The Light Rail (Central Link) travels between Seatac Airport and downtown Seattle. It does not travel to the University of Washington. If you want to ride the Light Rail (Central Link), then you should plan to transfer to a bus while in downtown Seattle (via the Transit Tunnel) to continue on to the UW. The University Link will open in 2016.
  • Directions for riding the Light Rail from Seatac Airport to downtown Seattle: Follow the signs through the 4th floor of the airport parking garage to the Sound Transit Link Light Rail station. Purchase a ticket from machines in the station and get off the train in downtown Seattle at Westlake Station in the Transit Tunnel. At Westlake Station, remain in the tunnel and board buses bound for the University District described below, depending on your destination. If you are riding the bus during daytime hours you pay when you get off the bus. If you board after 7:00 PM, you pay when you board the bus.
    • To UW Residence Halls (Lander Hall): Remain in the tunnel at Westlake Station and walk to Bay A to board buses #71, #72, or #73 bound for the University District. Get off the bus at NE Campus Parkway at Bay 1 in front of Alder Hall between Brooklyn Ave NE and University Way NE, then walk back west to Lander Hall located on the same side of NE Campus Parkway between Brooklyn Ave NE and 12th Ave NE.
    • To the Silver Cloud Inn: Remain in the tunnel at Westlake Station and walk to Bay A to board buses #71, #72, or #73 bound for the University District. Get off the bus at NE Campus Parkway at Bay 1 in front of Alder Hall between Brooklyn Ave NE and University Way NE, then walk east to Bay 2 and transfer to a #68 bus. The #68 will travel through the UW campus, then proceed downhill to University Village and north on 25th Ave NE. Get off the bus at the Silver Cloud Inn near NE 50th Street, approximately 5 blocks north of University Village shopping mall.
    • To the Hotel DECA: Remain in the tunnel at Westlake station and walk to Bay A to board bus #71, #72, or #73 bound for the University District. Stay on the bus as it continues on NE Campus Parkway and University Way NE, then get off the bus at NE 45th Street and University Way NE. Walk 1-2 blocks west along NE 45th Street to Hotel DECA located on the corner of NE 45th Street and Brooklyn Avenue NE.
    • To University Inn or Watertown Hotel: Exit the transit tunnel at Westlake Station to Pine Street (street level) and walk to the east side of 3rd Avenue between Pike and Pine Streets to board bus #66 bound for Northgate. Get off the bus on 11th Avenue NE at NE 42nd Street and walk one block west to Roosevelt Way NE. University Inn is on the corner of NE 42nd Street and Roosevelt Way NE; Watertown Hotel is one block north of University Inn on Roosevelt Way NE.
